Steve is one of the UK’s leading experts on Net Zero Carbon (NZC) and climate change for business. He has more than 25 years of experience in the industry and during that time he has consulted and designed strategies for the likes of EasyJet, Volkswagen AG, US Department of Energy, UK Department for Transport, KFC and Royal Mail Group. He has held senior positions with KPMG, Ricardo and Arup. He is currently the director of the University of Liverpool Zero Carbon Research Institute (ZCRI) as well as heading up the Arete Zero Carbon division in a private capacity. 

Hannah is Arete Zero Carbon’s senior data analyst, helping the team to understand and estimate a client’s carbon footprint and creating interactive visuals to represent it. She works with large data sets to help businesses identify the most carbon-intensive areas and runs the data team in the business. Hannah has a degree in Mathematics from LJMU and a Master's in Big Data Analytics from Edge Hill University. As part of her studies, she undertook a year-long placement as an operational researcher for the UK Government, working on time-sensitive projects to inform decision making.

Shaun holds a BA Honours in Business Management, which has allowed him to explore business on a local, national and international scale. A large part of his degree has been centred around both sustainability and innovative thinking, two skill sets he believes are imperative for business. At Arete Zero Carbon, Shaun acts as a project manager and consultant for clients in the legal and manufacturing space.

Ellen recently completed her Master's degree in Environmental Practice and holds a First Class Bachelor's (Hons) degree in Environmental Science. She has developed a solid understanding of the scientific and practical realities of protecting the environment. At Arete Zero Carbon, Ellen is engaged with a range of different clients as a project consultant and data analyst. She has a keen interest in sustainable development principles and helps clients to effectively consider climate-related policy within corporate practice. During her Master’s course, Ellen completed a placement project for the Civil Service, researching and advising on the latest climate guidance. She also had a year's experience working as an Executive Officer within the Civil Service between her studies. This role involved working with the people in the community, decision-making, offering advice and support, and complying with legal regulations.

With a Master’s degree in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of Liverpool, Nick has an extensive knowledge of global supply chains, the strategic value they bring across different sectors, and the sustainable practices that can be implemented. As part of his Master’s, Nick carried out a field study with a leading recycler to assess the economic and environmental implications of the UK’s strategy towards plastic recycling –offering consultation on how it should incorporate elements of the circular economy. Having worked at the UK’s leading IT reseller and studying various technology modules in both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees, Nick is able to apply his expertise as a project consultant for clients in the technology and distribution sector.

Sam is a self-motivated, enthusiastic marine biology undergraduate at the University of Salford, with experience of producing high-quality written scientific reports; planning, monitoring and delivering projects, and practical experience including managing risk through risk assessments. He is spending his placement year working with the Arete Zero Carbon where he specialises in carbon offsetting.
